Buck Knives
Buck Knives is an American manufacturer of knives. The
company is located in Post Falls, Idaho. The company traces its roots
to over a century ago. Though the first incarnation of this business
didn't come about until 1947, its founder was a blacksmith apprentice
in 1902. His early experiences were a great influence on what he would
create later in life.
On April 18, 1963, Buck Knives introduced the first folding lock-blade
knife. It became world famous, known as the Buck Folding Hunter Model
110. It had a four inch blade and a high-tension lock.
This knife became strongly linked with public association. For this
reason, many people call all forms of folding lock-blades, "buck
knives." This is in spite of the fact that the term is a trademark.
It is also done in spite of the fact that the company creates many other
forms of blades.
