Kitchen Knives
Kitchen knives are intended for use in food preparation.
There are a few general purpose styles. There are also many specialized
knife designs.
The most recognizable feature of kitchen knives (as well as all knives
in general) is the blade. Less people are familiar with the other different
features. These include the handle, the tang, and the bolster.
The tang of a knife is the extension of the blade through the handle.
The handle is created from either wood or a synthetic material. Bolsters
are thick pieces of metal located between the handle and the blade.
They add balance and safety. However, not all kitchen knives include
them.
